Adopting two under two– Hannah’s story

May 12, 2025

Driven by a strong desire to become a parent, Hannah began to explore the options open to her as a single person.

While she considered all the routes to parenthood, Hannah quickly realised that adoption was going to be the best path for her. She was already familiar with adoption as both her father and aunts were adopted as children.

She signed up for an Adoption in Merseyside (AiM) Information Session and began her adoption journey.

Choosing the Foster for Adoption (FFA) path felt like the right fit for Hannan as it meant she could offer a baby a loving, stable start from day one.

She first welcomed her son at just four days old, and not long after, his sister joined them from her foster care placement, fulfilling Hannah’s heartfelt wish to keep the siblings together.

“Adopting siblings has been incredible. They support each other and share a special connection. And of course, I get to see them grow up together.”

Hannah encourages anyone thinking about adoption to take the first step and to be open to the idea of adopting siblings.

“It is hard work, but it’s worth it. They’ll grow up with each other’s support and having that shared adoption experience will be so important for their identity.”

AiM welcomes potential adopters from all backgrounds, as long as you can provide a loving, safe and secure home the likelihood is you can adopt.

Cllr David Lonergan, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Knowsley Council Children’s Services, said:

“Welcoming a child into your life is a wonderful, life affirming experience for everyone involved. I’d encourage anyone who has been thinking about adoption to take the first step and get in contact.“Adoption in Merseyside’s brilliant staff always strive to find the right match for our children and provide lifelong support to our families.“The more people we have starting out on their journey to grow their family, the sooner those potential parents and our children can start their family lifetime together.“If adoption is something you’ve been thinking might be right for you – please, reach out to Adoption in Merseyside and find out what it might mean for you.”
