Indore: A newborn boy was found abandoned in a sack in Indore's Prajapat Nagar. The incident came to light after a video went viral on Wednesday.

Dwarkapuri police station in-charge Manish Mishra said that the infant was discovered on Monday night after a passerby heard cries coming from a sack placed at a garbage dumping spot and alerted the police.

The baby was shifted to MTH Hospital. Hospital sources said  that the condition of the newborn is currently stable, and the child is under medical observation.

Police officials said they are yet to ascertain who abandoned the baby and under what circumstances. The location where  the newborn was found is close to the office of BJP Councillor Rakesh Jain from ward 85, as well as Indore Municipal Corporation traffic in-charge office. Dwarkapuri police have initiated an investigation and are scanning nearby areas and CCTV footage to identify those involved. According to the video and preliminary police information, the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Dwarkapuri police station.
