Newborn girl found abandoned near Bherughat temple

Mhow: A newborn girl was found abandoned in a cloth bag near Hanuman temple at Bherughat, near Manpur, on Wednesday.

The baby was spotted by a woman passing through the area and she informed the police.

Manpur police station in-charge Lokendra Singh Hirore told TOI that the woman, Maya Bai, had gone to Hanuman temple when she heard sound of a baby crying. Following the sound, she reached behind the temple and noticed a cloth bag lying there. Upon checking, she discovered a newborn girl inside the bag. She tried to search for the baby's family, but when nobody was found, she reported the matter to Manpur Police.

Based on her information, Manpur police registered a case against an unidentified person under relevant section of the BNS and initiated an investigation.

Hirore further said that the baby was taken to Community Health Centre in Manpur for a medical examination. After her health check-up was done and she was found to be alright, the baby was sent to Matra Chaya in Vijay Nagar, where she was kept under proper care and protection.
